Printer driver is missing options. Many of the features of your Brother machine's printer are only available if you're using the Brother Original printer driver (Windows) or the Brother CUPS printer driver (Macintosh). It's easy to install a generic or third-party driver and miss out on your machine's full functionality.
Go to Troubleshoot this hardware issue. Check if the LCD or LED indication of your Brother machine is not showing some error. An example would be "Paper Jam" or "Ink/Toner Empty". If the LCD or LED shows an error, troubleshoot the error to clear the issue indicated.
