Ecology is a study of relationships. These can be very complex or hardly recog nizable. Therefore often studies are done on the relationship of one kind or organ ism, a species, with its environment. This type of ecology is called autecology.
Ecology is the scientific study of all these kinds of interactions between organisms, to one another and their physical environment. Biologists tend to study things at different biological scales, from molecules to the biosphere.
Ecology is the process by which organisms interact with each other and their environment, with the environment as a stage and ecology as the performance. ‘What is ecology?’ explains what happens when organisms feed on and compete with others.
Examples of ecological research include impacts of climatic change on species range distributions, patterns of infectious disease outbreaks, the effect of nutrient availability on ecosystem function, etc.
