Logical or deductive reasoning involves using a given set of facts or data to deduce other facts by reasoning logically. It involves drawing specific conclusions based on premises.
In this chapter, we shall first examine the theoretical relationship between logic and psychology, and subsequently describe the special system of logical analysis employed in genetic psychology (especially the School of Geneva). Download to read the full chapter text.
relation between psychology and logic is important, not only because of the central role of deductive logic in human thought, but also because it is a microcosm of the relation between language and thought in general.
In this paper two concepts of psychologism in logic are outlined: the one which Frege and Husserl fought against and the new psycholo-gism, or cognitivism, which underlies a cognitive turn in contemporary logic. Four issues such cognitively oriented logic should be interested in are indicated.
