11 Ιουν 2024 · Understanding its basic anatomy is crucial to understanding how it functions. This article provides a comprehensive look at the heart's structure with a detailed, labeled diagram and realistic photos, guiding you through each part and its role in the circulatory system.
31 Οκτ 2024 · The right atrium receives venous blood from the head, chest, and arms via the large vein called the superior vena cava and receives blood from the abdomen, pelvic region, and legs via the inferior vena cava. Blood then passes through the tricuspid valve to the right ventricle, which propels it through the pulmonary artery to the lungs.
As shown in Figure 17.2.3 17.2. 3, the heart has four inner chambers: a right atrium and ventricle and a left atrium and ventricle. On each side of the heart, blood is pumped from the atrium to the ventricle below it and from the ventricle out of the heart.
Schematic cross sectional diagram of the heart. Key anatomical structures are labelled and the flow of electrical activity is illustrated by the white arrows.
26 Αυγ 2024 · The diagram is labeled with the main parts of the cardiovascular system: the heart, arteries, capillaries, and veins. Heart: A Muscular Pump The heart is a fist-sized organ in the chest that is responsible for pumping blood.
Each side of the heart consists of an atrium and a ventricle which are two connected chambers. The atria (plural of atrium) are where the blood collects when it enters the heart. The ventricles...
12 Μαρ 2023 · From the initiation of a heartbeat in the SA node through contraction of the ventricles, the cardiac electrical system causes the heart to contract in a coordinated manner, maximizing the efficiency of the beating heart.
