I would recommend searching this sub or all of Reddit for lots of similar pet insurance posts. I have Lemonade and couldn’t be happier. Low monthly payments and claims have been processed and approved really quickly without any issues.

I got pet insurance for my dog the day i got her. She was 4 months. Fast forward to 1 year she broke her tibia bone while playing frisbee and we opted surgery. 80% of costs were covered by insurance. Total costs were around 5.5k and i ended up paying around 1.5k. I would highly recommend also the monthly premium i started with was 25$.
I use AKC pet insurance. However I just have emergency insurance in case of sickness or broken bones etc. Wellness can cover vaccines and I think general checkups, but I chose to just pay that out of pocket.
Our oldest dog is diabetic which has been semi-costly, but insurance wouldn’t have covered her insulin anyway. My recommendation is to set aside the money you’d spend on pet insurance, and keep it in a savings account in case disaster strikes.
I've seen so many posts recently asking whether insurance is a good idea. While there exists nuance to this question I would wager for 95 percent of people the answer is yes. I find most posts are just trying to find a way to avoid paying for the insurance cost.
My opinion: go on trupanion, petplan, healthy paws, and get one of their free quotes, trupanion will probably be the priciest, then look at them all and within the range of most expensive to least, find a number you are comfortable putting into savings every single month.
