10 Αυγ 2020 · Uracil may arise in DNA as a result of spontaneous cytosine deamination and/or misincorporation of dUMP during DNA replication. In this paper we will review: (i) sources of the origin of uracil in DNA; (ii) some properties of the enzymes responsible for the excision of uracil and their role in the I ….
In DNA, the evolutionary substitution of thymine for uracil may have increased DNA stability and improved the efficiency of DNA replication (discussed below). Uracil pairs with adenine through hydrogen bonding. When base pairing with adenine, uracil acts as both a hydrogen bond acceptor and a hydrogen bond donor.
1 Δεκ 2010 · Uracil may arise in DNA as a result of spontaneous cytosine deamination and/or misincorporation of dUMP during DNA replication.
During the synthesis of an RNA strand from a DNA template (transcription), uracil pairs only with adenine, and guanine pairs only with cytosine. Uracil is also a component of several coenzymes that act in conjunction with enzymes in several processes of carbohydrate metabolism.
16 Δεκ 2002 · Uracil in DNA results from deamination of cytosine to uracil, creating a premutagenic U : G mispair, or from misincorporation of dUMP instead of dTMP during replication, creating a U : A...
1 Δεκ 2010 · Uracil existing in DNA may arise as a result of spontaneous deamination of cytosine (leading to U:G mispairing) or from incorporation of dUMP during replication in place of dTMP leading to U:A pairing.
1 Δεκ 2010 · Uracil-DNA glycosylase-2 (UNG2) is a DNA repair protein that removes uracil from single and double-stranded DNA through a basic excision repair process.
