Problems with the Rh factor happen when the mother's Rh factor is negative and the baby's is positive. If the mother has not already been sensitized to Rh positive blood, she may be given Rh immunoglobulin (RhIg).
Problems can occur during pregnancy when the baby’s blood has the Rh factor and the mother’s blood does not, however it can be prevented in most cases with the medication called immunoglobulin (RhIg).
