The Acropolis Museum (Greek: Μουσείο Ακρόπολης, Mouseio Akropolis) is an archaeological museum focused on the findings of the archaeological site of the Acropolis of Athens. The museum was built to house every artifact found on the rock and on the surrounding slopes, from the Greek Bronze Age to Roman and Byzantine Greece .
The new Acropolis Museum was constructed on the south side of the Acropolis at a distance of 300 metres from its monuments. The Museum’s foundations were completed on the 30th of January 2004 and its opening took place on the 20th of June 2009.

The Acropolis Museum was built in large part to house the so-called Elgin Marbles, a collection of ancient Greek sculptures that were removed from the Parthenon in the 19th century by Thomas Bruce, 7th earl of Elgin, who was the British ambassador to the Ottoman Empire (1799–1803).
15 Ιουλ 2021 · Founded in 2003, the Acropolis Museum was built to house all of the archaeological discoveries found at the site of the Acropolis of Athens, with artefacts dating from the Greek Bronze Age to Roman and Byzantine Greece.
7 Αυγ 2023 · The beginnings of the museum date back to 1863, when it was first decided to build an Acropolis Museum south-east of the Parthenon. Two years later, construction work began on an 800 m² museum, which, however, quickly proved insufficient to exhibit the numerous finds.
When was it built. The 14,000 square-metre glass and concrete landmark, designed by architect Bernard Tschumi, was completed in 2007 and opened its doors to the public in 2009. What's the story.
