The BMW 1 Series, the BMW 2 Series Convertible and Coupé and the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer are all manufactured at BMW Plant Leipzig. Since 2013, it has also built the BMW i3, the BMW Group’s first series-produced electric car, and was joined by the BMW i8 in 2014.
The BMW Group operates a global production network, with eight BMW plants in Germany, one plant in San Luis Potosí (Mexico), one in Spartanburg (USA), two in South America and one in Rosslyn (South Africa), as well as facilities sites in the UK, two in India and two in China.
The South African plant in the Rosslyn district was the BMW Group’s first international location in 1973. Within a short time, the plant developed into a flexible, efficient and sustainable production facility.
