Facts, location and map. Cygnus is the 16th largest constellation in the night sky, occupying an area of 804 square degrees. It lies in the fourth quadrant of the northern hemisphere (NQ4) and can be seen at latitudes between +90° and -40°. The neighboring constellations are Cepheus, Draco, Lacerta, Lyra, Pegasus, and Vulpecula.
Cygnus: A northern constellation on the plane of the Milky Way, named after the Latin word for swan. It contains many bright stars, such as Deneb and Albireo, and several asterisms, such as the Northern Cross.
There are several deep sky objects in Cygnus, ranging from emission nebulae to supernova remnants. The Cygnus constellation is full of nebulous regions including the Sadr region that includes the Butterfly Nebula.

Cygnus is a large and easily recognisable constellation in the northern summer sky. Its brightest star, Deneb forms one vertex of the Summer Triangle asterism. Visually, Cygnus appears as a ‘T’-shaped grouping of stars, with a fainter star Albireo (β¹-Cyg) making the T into a cross.

23 Οκτ 2019 · Locating Cygnus, sometimes called "The Swan," is fairly easy thanks to the shape of the Northern Cross at its center. If you are in the northern hemisphere, look for the constellation during late July, when it should be almost directly overhead.
