The Battle of San Jacinto (Spanish: Batalla de San Jacinto), fought on April 21, 1836, in present-day La Porte and Deer Park, Texas, was the final and decisive battle of the Texas Revolution. Led by General Samuel Houston, the Texan Army engaged and defeated General Antonio López de Santa Anna's Mexican army in a fight that lasted just 18 minutes.
The Liberty flag was the only confirmed Texian battle flag that flew at the Battle of San Jacinto. It was presented to the Newport Rifle Company by Catherine Sherman, the wife of Colonel Sidney Sherman, in late 1835, shortly before they left Kentucky for Texas.

The San Jacinto Battle Flag, Lady Liberty, was gifted to Colonel Sidney Sherman's Kentucky vol- unteer cavalry unit on their departure for Texas. The only surviving flags of the Texas Revolution are the Red Rover flag, the New Orleans Greys flag and the San Jacinto flag. The former two are held in Mexico as spoils of war and the San Jacinto flag is in Austin.
