8 Ιαν 2021 · This systematic and meta-analysis review aimed to provide an updated estimate of the prevalence of ever and current cigarette smoking in women, in geographic areas worldwide, and demonstrate a trend of the prevalence of smoking over time by using a cumulative meta-analysis.

While initiatives to de-normalise smoking may encourage some women to cease smoking, we cannot overlook the potentially negative effects on their lives, well-being, and healthcare.

In the present work, evidence about female tobacco use, progress, challenges and ways forward for developing gendered tobacco control is reviewed.
