Working with the Environmental Protection Agency, the DNR surveys a wide variety of parameters on 50 randomly selected lakes that represent the statewide population of lakes. Lake planning and protection grants also design and collect water quality data.

29 Αυγ 2016 · Lake planning grants fund a variety of projects such as watershed analyses, nutrient budgets, aquatic plant surveys, habitat and recreational use analyses, and educational programs. This type of grant is available for small scale and large scale lake projects. Social surveys often follow in larger-scale lake management planning projects.
The purpose of this survey was to sample Lake Altoona under the Wisconsin DNR’s tier 1 lake sampling protocol for public access lakes in Wisconsin. Data from this survey was compared to historical data to 1.) Evaluate walleye population and size structure and 2.)
