WikiProject Maps encourages the creation of free maps and their upload on Wikimedia Commons. On the project's pages can be found advice, tools, links to resources, and map conventions. The project suggests some web-friendly map conventions that may help to make maps more readable.

14 Μαΐ 2024 · Allows users to display maps and coordinate data using multiple mapping services. For every MediaWiki release that is a Long Term Support release there is a corresponding branch in the extension. Maps is a MediaWiki extension to visualize and work with geographical information.
22 Αυγ 2023 · This server will query the originating wiki and retrieve map information using the Mapdata API. Returns topojson or geojson shapes and line of OSM relations and ways. The service will return topojson to the queries such as /geoshape?ids=Q1384,Q1166 (get New York and Michigan state shapes).
24 Μαρ 2024 · For old maps showing the world (that is, maps made over 70 years ago), please see category Old maps of the world. This is a main category requiring frequent diffusion and maybe maintenance. As many pictures and media files as possible should be moved into appropriate subcategories.
