With the new performance patch and a lot of time playing with the old optimized settings I decided to use the little boost on steam deck to focus on improving image quality (I like to play portable and docked) and fluidity.
Steam Deck Settings for Docked and Handheld. Following todays update, performance has VASTLY improved on the deck, and now runs pretty nicely with these settings. It's not without frame drops and some performance issues, but for the most part I now get a smooth experience: Under Decky Performance.
