In the present article I highlight the use of schematic months and of a schematic 360-day year in Ancient Israel. I cite different kinds of evidence, both material and literary, whose understanding could greatly benefit if interpreted as using a schematic time reckoning.

24 Φεβ 2013 · In this short paragraph, Herodotus describes a calendar based on a year equal 360 days: 12 months of 30 days each. He also mentions “correction” required to synchronize this calendar with seasons (add to alternating years 30 days).
Ancient Egyptians also used a 360-day calendar. One myth tells of how the extra 5 days were added. A long time ago, Ra, who was god of the sun, ruled the earth. During this time, he heard of a prophecy that Nut, the sky goddess, would give birth to a son who would depose him.
In ancient Persia, the calendar had 360 days; later, it was reformed to add 5 Gatha days to the year length. The Sumerians had a 360 day year with months of 30 days, and the Babylonians adopted that Sumerian calendar.
