20 Ιουν 2024 · GHENT, WV (WVNS) — As flowers bloom across the Mountain State, one recognizable flower to many West Virginians blossoms in a wide variety of colors. Not only is the rhododendron one of the more recognizable flowers in West Virginia, it is also the the Mountain State’s official state flower.
1 Μαΐ 2018 · Two kinds of rhododendron are native to West Virginia: White-blossomed or pale pink, Rhododendron maximum (also known as Great Laurel, Great Rhododendron, and Rosebay Rhododendron) is common across the Appalachian woodlands from Alabama to Nova Scotia. Its blossom is the official state flower.

Rhododendron (Rhododendron maximum) was designated the official state flower of West Virginia in 1903. The rhododendron beat honeysuckle and wild rose by more than 15,000 votes in a poll of public schoolchildren from across the state.
Founded in 1961, WVU Parkersburg is an independently-accredited community and technical college that maintains an affiliation with West Virginia University. Students may complete their initial one or two years at WVU Parkersburg before moving on to complete select four-year programs at WVU.
