Fine color aerial pictures from the beginning of Operation Blue, the German summer offensive in Russia 1942. The sharp knife of the German army were the Panzer divisions, which played a key role especially on the Eastern front. The number of tank divisions increased from ten divisions in 1940 to 25 by spring 1942.
