The civil service exam schedule for the entire year is released annually every July, and is available in alphabetical order or in application period order. DCAS also releases a monthly exam schedule, which you can receive over email by subscribing to our NYC Jobs Newsletter.
Examples include Police Officers and most Administrative and Technical positions. Appointments to competitive class titles can be permanent (if appointed from a civil service list) or provisional. For more information on upcoming exams visit our Current & Upcoming Exams page.
If you meet the basic requirements of the job, you can apply for your exam online or at one of our testing centers. Our testing centers are located in every borough and are open Monday through Saturday, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m., except major holidays and scheduled closures.
