Word Equation. Zinc Iodide = Zinc + Iodine. ZnI2 = Zn + I is a Decomposition reaction where one mole of aqueous Zinc Iodide [ZnI 2] decomposes into one mole of solid Zinc [Zn] and two moles of solid Iodine [I]
Word Equation. Zinc + Iodine = Zinc Iodide. Zn + I = ZnI2 is a Synthesis reaction where one mole of Zinc [Zn] and two moles of Iodine [I] combine to form one mole of Zinc Iodide [ZnI 2]
Word Equation. Diiodine + Zinc = Zinc Iodide. I2 + Zn = ZnI2 is a Synthesis reaction where one mole of Diiodine [I 2] and one mole of Zinc [Zn] combine to form one mole of Zinc Iodide [ZnI 2]
This method separates the reaction into two half-reactions – one for oxidation and one for reduction. Each half-reaction is balanced separately and then combined. Best for: complex redox reactions, especially in acidic or basic solutions.
17 Οκτ 2014 · Solution. Determine moles I2 by dividing the given mass by its molar mass. I prefer to divide by multiplying by the inverse of the molar mass, mol/g. Calculate moles Zn by multiplying moles I2 by the mole ratio between I2 and Zn in the balanced equation, with Zn in the numerator.
Experiments. Reaction of zinc with iodine. In association with Nuffield Foundation. Bookmark. Using an exothermic redox reaction between zinc and iodine, student will make zinc iodide. This can be reversed using electrolysis to decompose the compound.
Zinc iodide is the inorganic compound with the formula ZnI 2. It exists both in anhydrous form and as a dihydrate. Both are white and readily absorb water from the atmosphere. It has no major application. Preparation. It can be prepared by the direct reaction of zinc and iodine in water [1] or in refluxing ether.
