Using the latest version of software would be fine if new versions actually improved the software, but too often these days they are a step backwards. The updates to Adobe Reader and to the Lightroom mobile app last year are cases in point.
13 Ιαν 2017 · Adobe Reader DC also has an .msp and a .ini file that control some things. Basically, setup.exe calls AcroRead.msi, and then the .msp file updates it to the most current version. The .ini file is what calls out which .msi and .msp setup.exe uses.
12 Φεβ 2024 · New Acrobat Pro and Reader Tool Buttons have been hidden, relocated or completely removed. The newest versions (February 2024) of both Acrobat and Reader were just installed on my Mac. The interface has completely changed, and not for the better, IMO. I was previously using a very specific setup with multiple Tool Buttons an easy click away.
13 Δεκ 2023 · In case you still want to switch to the older view, you have the option to switch back to the old UI from the “Menu” on the top left corner on windows, and "View" Menu on Mac. Use option 'Disable New Acrobat' and Acrobat will switch to its classic view. Regards, Bhawna. 5 Upvotes.

2 Αυγ 2021 · I have the same issues, nothing helps, the reader is just so inefficient. The functionality hasn't changed in its essence over decades and it keeps getting worse with every version. Adobe: build a stable version without all the overhead that the industry is not interested in. Please.
19 Δεκ 2023 · Dec 22, 2023. Adding this setting to our environment (via a GPO) seemed to have resolved our slowness/freezing issues with Acrobat Pro. Edit>Preferences>Security enhanced>uncheck "Enable Protected Mode at startup". A few years ago, we applied this setting to Adobe Reader using a group policy setting.
30 Απρ 2018 · The name changed from Adobe Reader to Acrobat Reader and it is still free. There also continues to be the product just called Acrobat, or Acrobat Pro or Acrobat Standard; this continues to be not free. All of these (free and not free) might add “DC” to their name. 1 Upvote.
25 Αυγ 2020 · I have tried the following troubleshooting steps & they have not worked 1) Preview pane in Explorer turned on/off 2) Adobe reader "Enable PDF thumbnails previews" unchecked & re-checked. 3) uninstall/re-install Adobe reader. 4) went to Adobe program file setting & selected run in "compatibility mode" forWindow 8.
