After 5 months of using this therapy I still have the fissure but I am in practically no pain either when having a BM and have not bled in 6+ weeks. I actually really didn't bleed that much after the 1st month of this ordeal, besides slight pinkish streak on toilet paper ocassionally.

I have had this reoccurring fissure for 10+ years. It was always manageable until recently and so I finally did something about it. Firstly I would like to say that the Botox itself does NOT hurt.

The blood in the stools is bright red and the fissure is usually painful. The fissure can be seen and no tests are usually needed. Most fissures get better with no treatment or by just keeping the stools soft.
I am still having hours of pain after BMs (although it has lessened in intensity and duration) and he says it’s because the fissure is very large and deep. He does not recommend LIS since the Botox seems to have worked but he is recommending I have the fissure cauterized. He believes this will promote healing and reduce the pain.
