The GAD-7 scale is a 7-item questionnaire that assesses the severity of anxiety symptoms over the past two weeks. It can be used as a screening tool for GAD and other anxiety disorders, with cut-off scores of 5, 10, and 15 for mild, moderate and severe anxiety.
The scale consists of 14 items, each defined by a series of symptoms, and measures both psychic anxiety (mental agitation and psychological distress) and somatic anxiety
Scoring GAD-7 Anxiety Severity This is calculated by assigning scores of 0, 1, 2, and 3 to the response categories, respectively, of “not at all,” “several days,” “more than half the days,” and “nearly every day.” GAD-7 total score for the seven items ranges from 0 to 21. 0–4: minimal anxiety 5–9: mild anxiety
