APTA is responsible for facilitating thirty-five weeks of basic recruit training, specialized, and professional development training. In addition, APTA facilities training for the Tactical Field Operator (TFO) program, the Mobile Field Force (MFF), firearms training, and annual training for all Atlanta Police Department personnel.
Thereafter, your academy experience will consist of at least: 80+ hours of physical training. 80 hours of defensive training. 48 hours of firearms training. Hundreds of hours of classroom instruction.
The police academy training period is twenty-one weeks long. Upon becoming a sworn officer, you will have an additional twelve weeks of Field Training. Housing is not provided at the academy; you attend class during the day and go home afterward.
Police academy: Candidates who pass the Atlanta Police department test are invited to join the Atlanta Police Academy. The Academy provides a comprehensive training program that is for a minimum duration of 920 hours.
18 Αυγ 2024 · Police academies in Georgia require you to pass an entrance exam before enrolling in a program. There are three potential entrance exams in Georgia: The Accuplacer, COMPASS or ASSET tests. You can schedule a testing session for one of these tests at most technical colleges in Georgia.
