Department of Safety and Professional Services. Plan review by DSPS is required for new construction or remodeling of CBRFs of 9 or more residents except for those CBRFs attached to hospitals or nursing homes. Department of Health Services. New and remodeled.
The CBRF shall record residents having an evacuation time greater than the time allowed under s. DHS 83.35(5) and the type of assistance needed for evacuation. Fire evacuation drills may be announced in advance.
CBRFs are licensed based on: (1) size--small, 5-8 beds; medium, 9-20 beds; and large, 21 or more beds; and (2) class--whether residents are ambulatory, semi-ambulatory, or non-ambulatory, and able to mentally and physically respond to an electronic fire alarm and exit the facility without assistance or verbal or physical prompting.
