It's a very cost effective option, but you'll need to check the certification side. It gives a larger footprint, but it's no taller.

  2. 14 Ιαν 2011 · Re: How short is a short field for a 182? Went to the field ,was 1200 ft and with no go around and we had 10kts tail wind. 10 ft behind the numbers are a palm tree plantation about 60ft high. On the approach end there is an electrical cable 10 ft above the numbers. No way I was going to attempt that.

  3. 23 Δεκ 2004 · Thank you for your inquiry about the 260 hp engine conversion for your Cessna 180 or 182. Your O-470 engine must be exchanged for an IO-470 series, which is then modified according to our STC. The cost for an IO-470 engine "0" time exchange, for your old O-470 is approximately $1500.00 - $2500.00 more than overhauling the O-470.

  4. Summary. Think of the Cessna 182 Skylane as the hard-working middle-child between the 172 and 180. Developed in 1956, the original 182 was simply a tricycle variant of the ubiquitous Cessna 180 Skywagon. The first models were soon updated with in-demand features from the best-selling 172, such as "omni-vision" rear windows and swept tailfin.

30 Οκτ 2014 · BTW, back in olden times when it was still legal to put 2 under the same seatbelt, on my long cross country dual, Wife 1 and both guys fit OK in the back seat of a 172--don't recall what year model it was, but it was only a few years old, and that was in December 1972. They were only 6 and 2, and she was tall but slender.

  7. Re: Cessna 182 tail wheel conversion. Opinions. One of the big issues, as I understand it, is that it is getting hard to find a low time Skywagon that has not been wrecked, rebuilt, beat half to death, etc. If you build a 182 taildragger conversion, you might wind up with a lower time or less banged up airframe.

  8. 23 Μαΐ 2018 · Re: 182 Tunnel stiffeners / firewall bracing. I’ve always been under the impression that 182 built before 1962 which share the fuselage of a 180 are much stronger at the base of the firewall due to the “tunnel” incorporated into the floor. There’s a big casting at the firewall which ties the nose gear strut into the structure of the ...

  9. 9 Μαΐ 2014 · Cessna 182. The 182 '73P 0-470R that I fly gets better than that. At low density Altitudes (2000-5000) at 22 squared (below 65% power) it is no problem to get down to the high 11's on the fuel flow. I have all 6 cycliders monitored with EGT and CHT. The CHtemps are all well below 350 deg with no roughness.

  10. 5 Απρ 2019 · Straight tail 182. Lighter means better power to weight/ ratio. = Better acceleration/ lower take-off speeds. Bigger smiles. Taller landing gear, clear those bushes, brush, small trees. A higher wing makes you feel better than having to stoop under your wing. Effective horizontal stabilizer.
