We have a number of straight line winds that damage trees badly. Many of those need to be chopped down. And then to be economical with words you can bring in a stump chopper machine to grind up the stump.

My Oxford Concise agrees ("a trademark or brand of goods") but notes the term as "archaic". I suspect that this is, in essence, what it means in your sentence—perhaps a nameplate or some similar item to identify some property.
