The 2021 EU Adaptation strategy, Forging a climate-resilient Europe — the new EU strategy on adaptation to climate change, aims to realise the vision of a climate-resilient society by 2050 by making adaptation smarter, more systemic and faster, and by stepping up international action.
The Strategy aims to build a climate resilient society by improving knowledge of climate impacts and adaptation solutions; by stepping up adaptation planning and climate risk assessments; by accelerating adaptation action; and by helping to strengthen climate resilience globally.

The strategy is a key part of the European Green Deal, and it aims to increase and accelerate the EU’s efforts to protect nature, people and livelihoods against the unavoidable impacts of climate change.
