Physics is a natural science that involves the study of matter and its motion through space and time, along with related concepts such as energy and force. More broadly, it is the study of nature in an attempt to understand how the universe behaves.
This course considers objects from our daily environment and focuses on their principles of operation, histories, and relationships to one another. The emphasis for Physics 106 is on objects involving electromagnetism, light, special materials, and nuclear energy.
This course will emphasize many of the physics concepts which are taught to children in elementary school. The course is divided into several components which are described below.

Physics 106a is a 10-week intermediate course in the application of basic principles of classical physics to a wide variety of subjects, including special relativity. Ph106b will continue with topics in Electromagnetism, including radiation.
