Mediterranean conifer and mixed forests is an ecoregion, in the temperate coniferous forest biome, which occupies the high mountain ranges of North Africa. [2] The term is also a botanically recognized plant association in the African and Mediterranean literature. [3]
Two forest zones are found: the conifer zone from 1,200 to 2,500 m and a mixed broadleaf zone, from sea-level to about 1,500 m. Above the treeline, the vegetation is placed within the Mediterranean High Atlas Juniper Steppe ecoregion.
The Eastern Mediterranean conifer-sclerophyllous-forests, also known as the Eastern Mediterranean conifer-forests, [1] is an ecoregion in the eastern Mediterranean Basin. It covers portions of Turkey, Syria, Iraq, Lebanon, Israel, Palestinian territories, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia.
Coniferous forests also occur, especially around the Mediterranean. Pine and deciduous oak forest are widespread across California. Pinus halepensis, lentisk (Pistacia lentiscus), kermes oak (Quercus coccifera) and Chamaerops are found across Spanish Mediterranean forest.
7 Ιαν 2016 · The Mediterranean Basin is the largest of the five Mediterranean regions of the world with a surface of approx. 2.3 million km 2 (i.e. more than 75 % of the biome’s global distribution). It contains over 30,000 different plant species, i.e. more than half that of the entire Mediterranean biome.
This ecoregion spans the Mediterranean coastline of the Middle East, running through Turkey, Lebanon, Israel, Palestine, Jordan, and the Syrian Arab Republic. Warm, rainy winters and hot, dry summers are typical of the Mediterranean climate.
17 Ιουν 2016 · Four examples illustrate relationships between human impacts, structure, dynamics and functioning of Mediterranean forests: Quercus pubescens (downy oak) forest, Quercus suber (cork oak) forest, Pinus halepensis (Aleppo pine) forest or Juniperus thurifera (thuriferous juniper) forest.
