3 Νοε 2020 · This study presents an experimental exploration to understand the rounded cutting edge of solid carbide end mills with CrTiAlN coating on milling SUS-316L steel, and the tool performance in terms of cutting force, tool wear, and tool life is investigated.
A tool rotates clockwise is called “Right cutting edge”. Direction of cross-sectional observation. A tool rotates counter-clockwise is called “Left cutting edge”. Ordinary end mills are “Right cutting edge” and “Left cutting edge” are very rare.

10 Ιουν 2021 · To determine the influence of cutting edge chipping on tool wear, six milling tools with minimum edge roughness (Ra = 0.19–0.28 µm) and eight milling tools with maximum edge roughness (Ra = 1.1–1.961 µm) were manufactured by grinding and subsequently rounded by drag finishing and polishing.
Micromilling tools face signicant challenges in achieving cutting edge preparation by mechanical processes due to their small size. To address these limitations, a new approach for cutting edge preparation of micro end mills by physical vapor deposition (PVD) etching technology is presented.
1 Ιουλ 2024 · The cutting edge preparation of micromilling tools was carried out on end mills of type JM103010R005 (Seco Tools GmbH, Germany). The double-fluted tools made of ultra-fine grain cemented carbide feature a cutting diameter of d = 1 mm and were provided in ground and uncoated condition.
