The Damara is a unique breed of meat sheep ideally suited to our Australian climate. The name 'Damara' comes from Damaraland in Namibia. The Himba Tribe from Damaraland kept them for many hundreds of years, and this is where the South African farmers purchased their first Damara flocks.

Damara live much longer than other sheep and the Damara ewes have a much longer breeding life. Many ewes still producing good quality lambs at 10 years of age and with a full complement of teeth. Flocking Instinct:
Damara sheep are a fat-tailed breed from Eastern Asia and Egypt, adapted to harsh and dry conditions. They are vigorous, fertile, hardy and good mothers, and can be used for meat production and weed management.
