David McWilliams (born April 18, 1942) is a former American college football player and coach. He served as the head coach at Texas Tech University in 1986 and at the University of Texas at Austin from 1987 to 1991, compiling a career college football record of 38–30.

McWilliams graduated in 1964 with honors and a degree in mathematics. After graduation, McWilliams served two years as an assistant coach at Abilene High School (Texas), and in 1966, he became the state’s youngest head coach. After four years, Royal asked him to join the staff at Texas.
