You gain the following benefits while you are unarmed or wielding only monk weapons and you aren’t wearing armor or wielding a shield: You can use Dexterity instead of Strength for the attack and damage rolls of your unarmed strikes and monk weapons. You can roll a d4 in place of the normal damage of your unarmed strike or monk weapon.
This bonus increases when you reach certain Monk levels, as shown on the Monk Features table. Level 2: Uncanny Metabolism When you roll Initiative, you can regain all expended Focus Points. When you do so, roll your Martial Arts die, and regain a number of Hit Points equal to your Monk level plus the number rolled.

14 Σεπ 2021 · Bracers of defense are a classic monk item in D&D fifth edition and for good reason. The monk's Unarmored Defense and Martial Arts class features don't allow you to don armor or use a shield. This limits your ability to improve your AC outside of Ability Score Improvements. Bracers of defense are one way to get around these restrictions.
17 Δεκ 2015 · A monk (especially an open-palm monk) is never going to be a hero compared to the rest of your party. You will very rarely get to do anything that will make you think 'I am a superhero' either in combat or out. The monk is all about helping other people do cool things, not doing cool things yourself.

I've made my own series of "Bender" monk subclasses, based off the existing Way of the Four Elements (WotFE) subclass, but rebalanced and reflavoured to use only one of the four elements — Airbender, Earthbender, Firebender, and Waterbender; and also one along the same vein using all four elements, which I refer to as the "Avatar" subclass.

The fundamental teaching of this tradition holds that by emulating dragons, a monk becomes a more integrated part of the world and its magic.
I really think that when I make this character, I will go Astral Monk and Wildfire Druid. I'm not really thinking of the Wildshape as being for fighting Monk style, more for RP and and reconnaissance. And of course for the Wildfire pet. And going that route, I really am thinking that Astral Monk may be the best way to go.
