31 Μαΐ 2022 · Depends on what you want to do really. If you’re looking for overall DPR then go for Strength, if you want to be better at supporting then go for Charisma first. I personally wouldn’t build a Paladin for DPR because a Fighter is better suited for it, while no other class can support as well as a Paladin can so I like to capitalise on that.
2 Απρ 2015 · I wouldn't even bother with Paladin if you're only taking it to level 5. Paladin's biggest levels are 6 for Aura of Protection, 7 for Aura of Warding (Ancients), and 11 for Improved Divine Smite. Since your Channel Divinity bonuses don't stack, I'd say it's a decidedly bad combo. You'd be much better off with pure cleric.
A paladin, however, is an idealistic paragon of their beliefs. They have convictions so powerful, they become reality. They're CHA casters because their force of belief is so strong that it manifests as magic. These beliefs are defined and expressed as their Oaths. A paladin will never be a reluctant adherent to their oath, for that reason.
25 Δεκ 2020 · In 5e, a Paladin doesn’t have to be lawful so long as they follow the tenants of their god. If the god is Chaotic and the Paladin is Chaotic/they are following the tenants then they are keeping the “tone” of people a Paladin. I played a True Neutral Paladin of Oghma who’s “law” was to seek out new information.
29 Ιουλ 2023 · I'd say the standard stat array for paladin is 16/10/14/8/10/16, which, with Tasha's variable ability scores, is achievable by any race. You can obviously go to 12 dex at the cost of wis for extra initiative, or if you're variant-human go 8 in wis to take a feat that isn't a half-feat, there's a lot of optional variance here, but 16/10/14/8/10/16 is the standard
23 Ιουλ 2020 · Seriously though, I usually save smites for big creatures. If I’m confident we can defeat a creature without using smites and be fine, I save them. I don’t crit often enough to save smites for crits (though they are so, so nice to pull off.) And I say this as someone who played a Paladin Sorcerer: you never have enough Spell slots.

Your Paladin oaths are a matter of personal preference, as they only really affect your known spells, your Channel Divinity options, and - if you take more than 6 Paladin levels - your auras; there are no bad options (except maybe Crown). Similarly, you're a prepared caster, so you don't have to think too hard about (Paladin) spells either.
10 Αυγ 2022 · The classic Paladin builds typically seem to value Charisma for spell potency, charisma saving throws and aura of protection. Strength helps with melee weapon damage and heavy armor wearing. Constitution is for more hit points and spell concentration. However, I imagine that there are ways to make a more dexterity based Paladin.
22 Αυγ 2022 · I only ask, because you can absolutely do the same with Cleric. In fact Clerics are pretty damn good at filling the same roll as a Frontliner as a Paladin. The beauty of dnd is you can really easily retheme classes. I'd honestly just go Cleric if I were you, and pick one of the martial subclasses. You can still be good at a fighter and a healer.
