Elk Neck State Park is a public recreation area located between Chesapeake Bay and the Elk River near the southern tip of the Elk Neck Peninsula in Cecil County, Maryland. The state park is home to the historic Turkey Point Light and offers land-based and water-based recreation. [3]
7 Ιουλ 2023 · Elk Neck State Park is a 2,370-acre park that stands on a peninsula surrounded by the Chesapeake Bay to the west and the Elk River to the east. Located in Cecil County, Maryland, the park is divided into four distinct areas with varied habitats and recreational opportunities.
1 Μαρ 2024 · Wonderful hiking to the Turkey Point Lighthouse. Make sure you bring a bit if water and use the restroom before though. Breathtaking views of the Chesapeke peeking over the cliffs. A great way to relax and relieve stress.
Beaches, marshlands, wooded bluffs comprise this peninsula at the Bay's headwaters. Turkey Point Lighthouse provides views of Chesapeake Bay, and Northeast and Elk rivers. Launching ramps, tent and cabin camping available. A National Park Service National Underground Railroad Network to Freedom site.
The park has 250 campsites, four youth group sites, five four-person mini cabins, four six-person camper cabins, and six rustic cabins. The park store will be staffed on weekends from Memorial Day to Labor Day.
Follow Rt. 272 South for approximately 14 miles into Elk Neck State Park. 9 a.m. to sunset. Certain activities are permitted outside of the regular park hours (e.g. fishing, boat launch, hunting where permitted).
