Juliette Gordon Low (1860–1927), also affectionately known by her nickname “Daisy,” founded Girl Scouts of the USA in 1912. She imagined a movement where all girls could come together and embrace their unique strengths and passions—and as Girl Scouts has done since, she made that dream a reality.
3 Μαρ 2023 · If you’ve ever seen a Daisy in the wild, you may have noticed a colorful flower on the front of their bright blue uniform. What you may not know is that Girl Scout Daisies earn those petals by learning each part of the Girl Scout Law and applying it to their world.
Girl Scout Daisies can choose a blue vest or a smock with a full uniform or white shirt and khaki pants and skirt. They have their own Daisy pin and a choice of accessories. Girl Scout Brownies can choose a traditional brown vest or sash to be worn with the historic Brownie pin and other uniform pieces or white shirt and khaki pants or skirts.
The Girl Scouts of the USA has six levels: Daisy, Brownie, Junior, Cadette, Senior and Ambassador. Girl Scouts move or "bridge" to the next level, usually at the end of the school year, when they reach the age of advancing.
The Daisies will learn what the parts of the Girl Scout Law mean by meeting the Flower Friends in the Daisy Journeys and the Girl’s Guide to Girl Scouting. Each Flower Friend represents a part of the Law and helps girls to understand how they can live this Law as Daisies.
Girl Scouts have been true to this since 1912. Juliette Gordon Low—also known widely by her nickname, “Daisy”—started Girl Scouts in 1912 in her hometown of Savannah, Georgia. The first troop was made up of 18 girls who all shared a sense of curiosity and a belief that they could do anything.
