This is a list of countries by estimated number of privately owned guns per 100 people. The Small Arms Survey 2017[1] provides estimates of the total number of civilian-owned guns in a country. It then calculates the number per 100 people.
More than 175 of the world's countries allow their citizens to own firearms—though most have specific regulations on ownership, such as banning certain types of firearms. Mexico , Guatemala , and the United States have gone one step further and made gun ownership a constitutional right.
The United States leads the world in civilian gun ownership, with a rate of 120.5 firearms per 100 people. The next closest country is Yemen, approximately half that of the U.S, with 52.8 firearms per 100 individuals.
18 Ιουν 2018 · The Small Arms Survey estimates that of the one billion firearms in global circulation as of 2017, 857 million (85 per cent) are in civilian hands, 133 million (13 per cent) are in military arsenals, and 23 million (2 per cent) are owned by law enforcement agencies.

At the end of 2017 there were approximately 1,013 million firearms in the 230 countries and autonomous territories of the world, 84.6 per cent of which were held by civilians, 13.1 per cent by state militaries, and 2.2 per cent by law enforcement agencies (see Figure 2).
