This document is a compilation of descriptions (grade descriptors) of each grade for each group of subjects in the IB Diploma Programme. Grade descriptors consist of characteristics of performance at each grade. The descriptors apply to groups of subjects but substantial similarity exists across sets of group grade descriptors.
To calculate your IB grades, start by selecting your exam timezone and the correct grade boundaries for your session. Then, choose the levels for your subjects—either Higher Level (HL) or Standard Level (SL).
This tool provides an approximate conversion of IB grades to GPA and should be used as a reference only. Actual grade conversions may vary between universities and institutions.

IB scores are converted to GPA using a conversion chart aligning each IB score with a GPA value. For example, a score of 7 is equivalent to a 4.0 GPA, 6 is equivalent to a 3.7 GPA, and so on. Each score is converted and then averaged for a final GPA.
19 Ιαν 2024 · Therefore, the IB does not provide or endorse a conversion table to the USA’s A to F grading scale or the 4.0 GPA scale. The best practice is for IB World Schools to submit student grades in the IB’s 1–7 grading scale, as this best represents student achievement.
