Indianapolis City Parks offer a range of programs and camps tailored to senior citizens, providing opportunities for social engagement, physical activity, and personal growth. These programs include activities such as pickleball, cooking for one, and staying social, helping to promote wellness and social connection among seniors in the community.
Most parks are managed by the city’s Department of Parks and Recreation, also known as Indy Parks. In 2020, there were 212 city parks, [1] four state-owned parks, and numerous privately-managed parks, plazas, gardens, and nature preserves.
Park facilities offer a variety of recreational opportunities to all ages. More than 192 parks, including golf courses, aquatic facilities, environmental education, sports facilities, arts presentations, playgrounds and much more.

The agency offers 214 parks, 11,254 acres of greenspace, 130 playgrounds, 155 sports fields, 153 miles of trails, 23 recreation and nature centers, 20 aquatic centers, 22 spray grounds, 13 golf courses, and four dog parks.
