JABO, Inc. was founded in 1987 by Joanne Argabrite and Jack Bogard. Mr. Bogard was the owner of the Bogard Company which had suffered financial setbacks while in Cairo, WV. Ms. Argabrite was the accountant who was helping him resuscitate his company.
Both Jabo, Inc. and its new incarnation as Jabo-Vitro Agate, Inc. produced mainly industrial marbles. However, from time to time the company released mostly limited runs of swirl type marbles, thanks to the skills brought to the company by McCullough, formerly of Champion Agate.
With a lucrative industrial marble business, JABO would purchase a location in Williamstown, WV to increase production for the industrial marble demand, though colorful marbles were never made. By 2006, JABO's industrial marble business was waning to the point of massive cutbacks and Joanne's order to halt production of Classics.
