Lam was born in Saigon and loved music from a young age. In 1981, he and his family immigrated to the United States and settled in Southern California. Before pursuing a career in singing, in March 1993, Lam earned a degree in Medical Radiology at Loma Linda University Medical Center.
January 1990, after my first love passed away I decided to move from Georgia to California to pursue my dream......the Vietnamese music industry. It was a bit scary but yet exciting. I started out singing at a night club here in Orange County 4 nights a week making $50 a night. I figure it would paid bills while pursuing my singing career.
