14 Μαΐ 2015 · Language Learning With Netflix: awesome! Easy dual subtitles plus some language-learner-oriented features is something I had always wanted, and it delivers. The only flaw is that it only works on Chrome (and that it's Netflix-specific and the Netflix catalogue in most of the languages I study is quite limited, but that's hardly the app's fault!
28 Σεπ 2024 · Re: Language learning in academia. I have studied languages at university and I wouldn't recommend doing it just to refine language skills. In my opinion it's much more efficient to do self-study - at university you study many subjects, literature, linguistics, etc. About the language, not necessarily in the language.
6 Ιουν 2016 · Cebuano / bisaya, Austronesian language from Philippines with lots of Spanish and English loanwords. Probably around 20 million speakers. Few modern books. Some newspapers. Very few resources. Slowly people are starting to consider teaching it at school.

Various talents (such as being naturally sociable, or having good memory, good logical thinking, musical ear) will make some parts of language learning easier. Don't get me wrong, IQ or talent in general are not the most important thing in learning of course.

Published in 1962 and 1965, respectively, to accompany BBC Radio weekly broadcasts of some 20 minutes duration. Engaging dialogues with sparse but well-conceived notes on grammar.
