29 Ιουν 2020 · Manila clam (Ruditapes philippinarum, Adams and Reeve, 1850) farming is a quantitatively important and valuable form of aquaculture production worldwide but, to our best knowledge, no life cycle assessments (LCA) have been undertaken on it.
In recent years interest in clam farming in British Columbia has accelerated because the profit margin has improved radically as the price of Manila clams has quadrupled. The economics of shellfish farming in B.C. has also improved through the implementation of the polyculture of oysters with clams.

Samish Bay. The production method combined predator netting, mechanical net deployment and sweeping, and a modified tulip-bulb harvester to intensively cultivate and harvest Manila clams. This has allowed effective predator protection, biofouling control, and eficient harvest.
