The National Guard Youth Challenge Program is a voluntary 17-month dropout recovery program that helps at-risk youths earn their high school diploma or GED. Some states offer credit recovery which allows youth the opportunity to return to high school upon successful completion of Youth Challenge.
Since 1993, the National Guard Youth Challenge Program has given teenagers a second chance by teaching them self-discipline, leadership and responsibility as they work toward a high school diploma or equivalency. To date, more than 200,000 young men and women have graduated from the program.
Challenge provides youth with an experience based in solid life skills, reinforced through all phases with ongoing mentoring support. Watch Video Info for Mentors
Discovery Challenge Academy is part of the California National Guard and is a five and a half month residential credit recovery program with a quasi-military aspect. During the academy, students will earn 65 high school credits, serve at least 40 hours of community service, and compete for scholarships.
Texas ChalleNGe Academy is a 5 1/2-month residential academy sponsored by the Texas National Guard. We are a tuition free educational program for 16 to 18-year-old teens who are disengaged in school. We offer academic instruction, provide structure, and discipline to help our cadets develop personal accountability and become successful adults.
The Mission of the Washington Youth ChalleNGe Academy is to provide a highly disciplined, safe, and professional learning environment that empowers at-risk youth to improve their educational level and employment potential and become responsible and productive Washingtonians.
