Sunlight is a portion of the electromagnetic radiation given off by the Sun, in particular infrared, visible, and ultraviolet light. On Earth, sunlight is scattered and filtered through Earth's atmosphere as daylight when the Sun is above the horizon.
Natural light is both full spectrum (contains all the colors of the rainbow) and dynamic (changes with the time of day as well as time of year and place on earth). The earth's atmosphere filters the light from the Sun, which is why the light we see and feel changes with the time of.
Full-spectrum light is light that covers the electromagnetic spectrum from infrared to near-ultraviolet, or all wavelengths that are useful to plant or animal life; in particular, sunlight is considered full spectrum, even though the solar spectral distribution reaching Earth changes with time of day, latitude, and atmospheric conditions.
Natural light is fundamentally different than the artificial light sources which we use in our homes, offices and schools. (1) Natural light is full spectrum, which means it contains all the colors of the rainbow, as well as wavelengths (colors) that we cannot see (infra-red and ultra violet).
What kind of light does the Sun emit? Sunlight spectrum above Earth's atmosphere as a function of wavelength. Public Domain Image, image source: Christopher S. Baird, data source: American Society for Testing and Materials Terrestrial Reference. The Sun shines in many ‘colors’ of light.
24 Φεβ 2024 · Full-spectrum light is a type of artificial lighting designed to mimic the natural light spectrum of sunlight. It encompasses a wide range of wavelengths, covering all the colors visible to the...
15 Νοε 2024 · Sunlight, solar radiation that is visible at Earth’s surface. The amount of sunlight is dependent on the extent of the daytime cloud cover. Some places on Earth receive more than 4,000 hours per year of sunlight, as in the Sahara; others receive less than 2,000, as in regions of frequent storminess.
