Nevada Opera - Experience the Emotion. Opera in Blue Jeans was tremendous fun. The photos to the left show the performers and large, enthusiastic crowd. Artown staff estimated the attendance at some 1000 people. The music was wonderful; solists and chorus wowed the crowd with classic and more popular selections.

Nevada Opera Association has thrived in Reno for over forty years. Founders Ted and Deena Puffer account for a great deal of our success. The commitment and connections they brought to Reno in 1968 enabled this fledgling company to soar to great heights in its early years.
The Nevada Opera Association’s mission is to produce opera of the highest professional quality for the enrichment and entertainment of communities in Nevada and throughout the Sierra Nevada region and to offer outstanding educational and outreach programs to students and performance opportunities to emerging artists.
Nevada Opera Mission: Educate, Enlighten, Enrich and Entertain the people of Nevada and the neighboring Sierra Nevada region by producing live opera performances of the hightst quality and by reaching out to students, artisit and targeted audiences with educational and developmental opportunities.
With its first season in 1967-68, Nevada Opera is the first and longest lasting professional regional opera company in the state of Nevada.
The Nevada Opera Association (NOA) was incorporated in January 1968 by Ted & Deena Puffer. The Opera is the oldest professional performing arts organization (and the only professional opera company) in Nevada and has produced more than 140 operas, operettas and musicals over the last 38 seasons.
