It basically is OEM basic input/output system (BIOS) activation -- meaning they've activated it already and you don't need to enter the key and activate yourself.

Dell, HP, Asus, and Lenovo are examples of OEMs. Sometimes an OEM might customize a driver to make it work better for a system, like a laptop, but I’ve never owned one where that was critical. And when it comes to motherboards and iGPUs, I can’t think of any reason to heed that warning.
