The most commonly encountered Ruger M77 rifles feature sporter-weight barrels with walnut stocks. At left is an M77R .280 Remington, and at right is a M77RS .338 Winchester Magnum. The trigger guard was changed to steel and included an improved floorplate released from outside the trigger guard.

The Ruger Model 77 is a fine hunting rifle, as good as or better than anything on the market today, and I am proud to own such a well made gun. Its good trigger, reliable feeding and high level of accuracy all combine to make this rifle worth keeping.
