We are testing PC800 RDRAM manufactured by Samsung, and as it is the older 16 bit serial type, we need to install them in matching pairs. Here we have two 128 MB PC800 RIMMS. Because RDRAM runs at such a high frequency, Rambus requires all memory manufacturers to add ramsinks to their RIMMS.

Conclusions on PC800 RDRAM. When originally introduced, RDRAM quite redundant and pretty much useless as the Pentium 3 couldn't take advantage of the added memory bandwidth. With the Pentium 4 things are totally different. SDRAM with has a rather puny 1.08 GB/s worth of bandwidth and can't keep a P4 which requires 3.2 GB/s happy.
